Reality television stars are usually not shy. Shows like Survivor, Big Brother, the Bachelor and American Idol tend to attract more outgoing personalities. However, there have been some reality television contestants who have been shy. Here is a list of some shy reality TV stars.
1. Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood was a contestant and the winner of the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. A country singer-songwriter, she has gone on to become a multi-platinum selling recording artist. Underwood has received multiple awards for her work, including several Grammy’s, American Music Awards, and Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist Awards. Despite her success, Underwood has a shy side, describing herself as a nervous and socially awkward person.
2. Jamie Blyth
Jamie Blyth was a contestant on the first season of the reality television show “The Bachelorette” starring Trista Rehn. One of his reasons for going on the show was to push himself beyond the anxiety that had held him captive for many years. Panic attacks and social anxiety were a way of life for Jamie through his college years, but through determination and self-help strategies he has gone on to conquer his illness and work in the entertainment industry. He also wrote a book about his experiences called “Fear is No Longer My Reality.”
3. Paul Potts
Paul Potts was the winner of the reality television show “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007. A self-described nervous performer who shook during his audition for Simon Cowell, Potts is an operatic tenor who went on to record the album “One Chance.” Cowell recalls expecting little from the shy former mobile phone salesman, but that his feelings quickly changed after hearing Potts sing.
